Dawna Underwood

Dawna Underwood was born August 28, 1956 in Minot, North Dakota but was raised in San Diego California. Mrs. Underwood teaches 3rd grade at NCS. She has been teaching for 25 years but has been teaching at NCS for 12 yrs. Dawna is a wife of 22 years and a mother of three children: Daniel, Sarah, and Joanna. She enjoys reading and traveling in her spare time. She has been nominated for the Disney Award for teaching and the Silver Apple Teacher Award. Mrs. Underwood loves teaching and learning and says she is blessed to do what she loves.

Mrs. Underwood states that the most important lesson that every child should learn is that; "God has created them with value and unique abilities. Enjoy and use those abilities- work in your area or use your gifts and you'll be energized as you feel God's pleasure in what you do." Dawna's technique in teaching is child involvement- "We read about it - We do it! Kids are involved in learning." Her inspirational thought is "It is truly amazing to realize how much Jesus loves me." Mrs. Underwood's favorite scripture reference is found in Colossians 1:10, "Live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way; bearing fruit in every good work." We appreciate her hard work and commitment to the school and her students at Northwest Christian School.

Alicia Wall

Alicia Wall was born July 4th on sunny beaches of California. Mrs. Wall teaches High School English and is a Sophomore sponsor. She has been teaching for 7 years at NCS but a total of 21 years. Alicia is happily married and has two children: a 5th grader that ice skates and a sophomore that plays football. She enjoys reading in her spare time! Two unique things about her is that she has completed a marathon and loves the smell of bookstores and libraries. Mrs. Wall has been awarded the Who's Who of Teachers Award.

Mrs. Wall states that the most important lesson that every child should learn is that, "being perfect isn't the goal, doing your best is the point." Alicia's philosophy in teaching students is, "if the teacher is bored so will the students be! Keep it alive; laugh a lot; show grace and remember my motto; grin and ignore it." Her inspirational thought is to always be yourself; you will be ingratiating to many and will confound the rest. Mrs. Wall does not have a favorite verse because there are too many to choose from. We thank Alicia Wall for her wonderful commitment to everyone at Northwest Christian School.
