NCS Social Studies Department
The goal of the Social Studies Department is to give our students Roots and Wings.
Through a variety of required and elective offerings, we seek to firmly ground our students with essential skills and historically accurate information that promotes the development of a Christian worldview. In each course, we strive to meet the needs of our students with varied teaching styles and learning activities. Our ultimate goal is to equip each student with the desire and skills for life-long learning and active citizenship.
In addition to our required and elective courses, we encourage and facilitate participation in extra-curricular activities such as:
- Registering students and parents to vote
- Becoming official poll workers during state and local elections
- Coordinating Kid's Voting polling places
- Senior internships with the Maricopa County Attorney's Office
- National History Day activities
- Boys State
- Girls State
- Our nationally recognized Washington, D.C. field study course
